This machine is equipped with safety equipment to protect persons and machinery from any danger that might happen unexpectedly. However operators are requested to operate the equipment in such a way that no person will use the equipment in the following unsafe manner and cause an accident without knowing the following safety precautions. This instruction manual and the warning signs attached to the machine cover only those hazards which Okuma can predict. Be aware that they do not cover all possible hazards.

(1) After tur ning on the powe r, car ry out inspe ction and adj ustmen t in accordan ce with the dai ly inspection procedure described in this instruction manual. (2) Use tools who se dimensi ons and type are ap propria te for the work und ertake n and the machine specifications. Do not use badly worn tools since they can cause accidents.

(3) Do not, for any reas on, touch the sp indle or tool w hile spin dle index ing is in progre ss since the spindle could rotate: this is dangerous. (4) Check that t he work piece and too l are p roperly secure d.

(5) Never tou ch a workp iece or to ol while i t is rota ting: thi s is extrem ely dang erous. (6) Do not remove ch ips by hand whi le machin ing is in progre ss since thi s is dangero us. Alway s stop the machine first, then remove the chips with a brush or broom. (7) Do not oper ate the mac hine wi th any of the sa fety devi ces remo ved. Do not o perate th e machine with any of the covers removed unless it is necessary to do so. (8) Always stop t he mach ine be fore mo unting or rem oving a tool.

(9) Do not appr oach or tou ch any mov ing part o f the machi ne whil e it is opera ting. (10) Do not touch any switch or button w ith wet hands. This is extremely dangerous.

(11) Before using any switch or button on the operation p anel, check that it is the one intended. (1) The tool clamp s of the magazine, spindle, etc., are design ed for reliabi lity, but it is possibl e that a tool could be released and fall in the event of an unforeseen accident, exposing you to dan- ger: do not touch or approach the ATC mechanism during ATC operation. (2) Always i nspect an d change t ools in the m agazin e in the manu al magaz ine inte rrupt mod e. (3) Remove c hips adh ering to th e magazi ne at appro priate i nterval s since th ey can caus e misoperation. Do not use compressed air to remove these chips since it will only push the chips further in.

(4) If the A TC stops du ring operat ion for some rea son and it has to be ins pected w ithout turn ing the power off, do not touch the AT C since it may start moving suddenly.
